Aliki Braine

Continuing to redefine the print, Aliki Braine uses photography ‘as a way of harnessing and containing expansive images of landscape. In an attempt at breaking the illusion of the photographic medium,’ she says, ‘I have been hole-punching negatives (Draw me a Tree) and sticking stickers on negatives (Circle/Square) pushing photography towards abstraction.’ A simple view of a tree in a field is punctured with clusters of coalesced dark blobs which introduce mystery into the previously bucolic scene.
