Art Projects

What is Art Projects?

A curated showcase of the freshest contemporary art from across the globe, Art Projects features large-scale installations, solo shows and group displays, alongside an extensive Film Programme presenting a selection of experimental film and video work.

Art Projects is situated alongside the main Fair on Gallery Level 1.

The section has established itself as an important international platform for new galleries to showcase the most stimulating contemporary practice, and continues to garner widespread critical acclaim.

'Art Projects allows galleries to be very experimental in the stand itself, allowing artists to play with another part of their practice’

‘Dialogues’ is a new section within Art Projects featuring collaborative presentations between invited UK and international galleries, curated by Adam Carr for the 2014 edition of the Fair.

With many of these galleries and artists working together for the first time, the section presented a unique exhibition of critical conversations around shared ideas or a common aesthetic.

Currently curator at MOSTYN, Wales, Adam Carr has previously been guest curator for Castello di Rivoli Museum of Contemporary Art, Turin and Kadist Art Foundation, Paris. More on Adam Carr.

The ‘Dialogues’ galleries were:
• DREI, Cologne / Limoncello, London
• Galleria Stereo, Warsaw / The Sunday Painter, London
• SABOT, Romania / Maria Stenfors, London
• Frutta, Rome / Seventeen, London

Film & Performance Programme

Film screenings and performances feature as part of the Art Projects' programme. The film programme, presented in a purpose-built screening room and curated by Pryle Behrman, draws on the freshest talent while performances highlight the range of artistic practice that the Fair now covers.

'That galleries converse, interact and exchange knowledge is not new, but yet rarely framed within the context of art fairs. In contrast to the conventional format of separate gallery presentations, ‘Dialogues’ sets out to encourage collaboration, establishing a new constellation in the relationship between galleries, art fairs and the public through their display.'
