Material Matters: On making and the physicality of photography

Five artist practitioners discuss the importance of materiality in their practice, including the manual creativity of darkroom practice, pinhole cameras, alternative processes, and the physicality and sculptural possibility of the print. Panel artists will include Sophy Rickett, Martin Newth, Almudena Romero, Edouard Taufenbach and Dafna Talmor. Chaired by Kim Shaw, Executive Director of Photofusion.

Collecting Contemporary Photography in association with The Photographers' Gallery

Brett Rogers OBE, Director of The Photographers’ Gallery chairs a discussion exploring current trends in the photography world and how to grow your contemporary collection. Panel members will include Helen Trompeteler (Curator of Photography, Royal Collection Trust) and Christiane Monarchi (Founding Editor, Photomonitor and curator of this year’s Photo50 exhibition). Joining the discussion are, Hannah Watson (Photobook specialist and Gallerist, Director of Trolley Books and TJ Boulting) and Nicholas Campbell (Founder of Narcissus Arts, specialising in under £10k art investment and a Forbes 30 under 30 in 2014), who will offer insight into collecting photography from emerging artists, photobooks and starting a collection at affordable price points.
