EVERYDAY OBJECTS PRINTMAKING WORKSHOP

This practical printmaking workshop is suitable for all ages.

An interactive and experimental way to learn block printing techniques using everyday objects you can find at home.

This workshop invites you be imaginative at home to explore objects in a new way, creating your own block stamp designs and making playful patterns and interesting compositions.

WORKSHOP SKILLS:

  • Exploring everyday objects in new exciting ways
  • Experimenting with block printing
  • Playing with composition and pattern design

MATERIALS REQUIRED:

  • Scissors
  • Biro pen
  • Masking tape
  • String or wool
  • Newspaper or tea towel
  • Plastic lid or baking tray
  • Sponge or paintbrush or sponge roller
  • Piece of flat polystyrene (polystyrene plate or burger box)
  • Wooden blocks or thick cardboard
  • Some scrap paper
  • Paint – you can use poster paint, acrylic or fabric paint if you want to print textiles
  • Variety of surfaces to print on – large sheets of paper or fabric, paper bags, envelopes or even an old map
  • Everyday objects for printing such as bottle tops, cork, piece of bubble wrap, fork, corrugated cardboard, potato masher… look around and see what you can find! (Make sure you don’t mind the object getting covered in paint)
