PANELLISTS:

Moderator, Lucy Sollitt: A philosopher by training, Lucy has been exploring the creative and critical implications of emerging technologies on art for over 15 years. She writes, curates exhibitions and events, devises strategy and contributes to policy development – for organisations including FACT, Serpentine Galleries, Rhizome, Goethe Institut, SPACE Studios, Arts Council England and UK government. Alongside this, Lucy is a leading voice on how technologies are changing the art economies for artists. She is author of the widely referenced Future of the Art Market report and curator of the Redefining Value in the Art Market and Tokenomics: A New Economy of Art series.

Marek Claassen: is the co-founder of Artfacts, the leading digital archive and analyst  of contemporary art (est. 2001), and Limna, the AI-powered Art Advisor in your Pocket which launched in Summer 2021 as a mobile app. Before becoming an internet entrepreneur, he trained at one of Germany’s leading art galleries and has applied the knowledge he gained there to create a ranking system that measures the cultural significance for every artist globally. A leading figure in art world data, he has spoken at a number of key institutions including Talking Galleries, Art Basel, Christie’s Education, and INSEAD.

Limna, the world’s first AI-powered art advisor, makes it easier for anyone to confidently buy fine art, while connecting every kind of buyer with artists and galleries around the world. Limna analyses millions of art world data points in seconds to provide users with clear and transparent price estimates about the art that inspires them. This dataset of more than 700,000 artists, tracked since 1863 across 1,000,000 exhibitions at some 45,000 institutions allows Limna’s machine-learning engine to offer an unprecedented level of precision in its pricing. Limna specialises in photography and unique painting, focusing particularly on the work of living artists’ in order to continue to support today’s visual arts community. Like its sibling brand Artfacts.net, whose focus is to help artists understand their career position, Limna is based in London and Berlin and was co-founded by Marek Claassen and Stine Albertsen.
