In this discussion, BIID member interior designer Cinzia Moretti chaired a conversation with BIID interior designers Nicola Burt and Claudia Dorsch, and artist Nicola Green, to discuss how a piece of art can inspire a whole interior design scheme; from the colours and textures to the time period in which it was created.

CINZIA MORETTI: Cinzia Moretti is the creative director of Moretti Interior. Cinzia has designed high-end interiors for over a decade in UK and overseas. Cinzia is a registered member of the BIID where she is an assessor and mentor and a tutor of the international British Academy of Interior Design. Cinzia’s approach to design is very distinctive, she uses environmental psychology and colour psychology to help client’s to design their dream home. She runs the business with her husband who is a lighting designer and together they have designed timeless and elegant interiors.

NICOLA GREEN: Green has established an international reputation for her powerful storytelling ability, gaining unprecedented access to iconic figures including President Obama, Pope Francis, Elle Macpherson and the Dalai Lama. As well as international figures, Green works with collectors, families and commercial clients including 2012 Olympics and Great Scotland Yard hotel. Green’s work, whether it’s in a home, a hotel or a museum, serves as a living conversation with future generations. 

CLAUDIA DORSH: Having worked for antiques dealers buying and selling furniture and objet d’art as a teen, Claudia Dorsch formed an appreciation of the value of beautiful objects and an understanding of many styles and influences in interior design and art. After studying European Business Administration in London, she spent ten years working in asset management for global financial institutions, whilst honing her interior design and creative skills through property development. After leaving her career in finance, she trained at the Inchbald School of Design and in 2009, turned her passion for renovation, decoration and furniture into a profession through founding Claudia Interiors.

NICOLA BURT: Nicola Burt is an Interior Designer and Interior Design Tutor. She believes good design is for everyone, and where we live and work should be positive and uplifting places. Nicola Burt Interior Design was established in 2005, and undertakes mainly residential projects and some small commercial projects. Since 2010 Nicola has also been an Interior Design Tutor at KLC School of Design in Chelsea. Sharing her knowledge and experience with students is an immensely satisfying experience.
