Performance and in-conversation with the artist Ebun Sodipo. Sodipo is a trans, black-british performance artist. Much of their work looks into creating spaces and moments of contemplation and comfort. Joined by artists Bernice Mulenga and Sola Olulode, this conversation will explore what it means to create a home ‘away’ from home, and how this can become a physical space, or ephemeral space.

All Talks are free to attend with a valid ticket to London Art Fair.

Ebun Sodipo

Black trans people of the future. Her interdisciplinary practice narrates her construction of a Black trans-feminine self after slavery and colonialism. Through a process of fragmentation, collage, and fabulation, she devises softer, other-wise ways of imagining and speaking about the body, desire, archives, and the past.

Her work has been shown, read, watched, performed at 198 Contemporary Arts and Learning Centre, Raven Row, South London Gallery,  Auto Italia, ICA, Tate Britain,  Camden Arts Centre, Frieze. She has undertaken residencies at Gasworks, Porthmeor Studios, Rhubaba Gallery, and V.O. Curations

Sola Olulode

Sola Olulode is a painter whose dreamy queer visions explore embodiments of British Black Womxn and Non-Binary Folx. Working with various mediums of dyeing, batik, wax, ink, pastel, oil bar, and paint, she develops textural canvases that explore the fluidities of identities. Drawing inspiration from lived experience, friends, and cultural reference points to centre Black Queer Womxn, Olulode emphasises the integral need of representation and celebration of queer intimacies.
